In the Spring Semester of 2009, Holy Family University professor of art Pamela Flynn and art students were interviewed for a television segment on WHYY. This was a very exciting time for the art department and it was an honor to be chosen among the many other "creative campuses".
The segment opens a window into the true nature of Holy Family University's art department. Individual artistic expression is supported while skills are reinforced through the guidance of art professors. Former art association president and art education major Gina D'Emilio sums it up: "My professor influences me a lot. She doesn't necessarily put forth her own ideas about her own artwork and make it seem like every time you do a project it looks like something that she did before. That's something that I try to steer away from when I'm teaching my own kids because I want them to have their own artwork, not look like someone else's. I want them to have their own ideas and really learn to not copy someone else's artwork or ideas and go with their own. And that's something I learned here. "

"WHYY Web Exclusive Features Art Department (8/4/2010)
Holy Family University’s art department is featured in an online video at WHYY.org throughout August.
The Holy Family segment is a Web exclusive that is part of WHYY’s “Friday Arts, College Edition” feature and can be viewed by visiting www.whyy.org/fridayarts.
The video includes an interview with Professor of Art Pamela Flynn, MFA, as well as students talking about how the art department not only teaches young artists, but also empowers them as individuals.
The piece was developed as part of a WHYY grant-funded project called “Creative Campus,” which produced video shorts on a dozen select area college art programs.
Those video features have been broadcast on WHYY-TV as well as online at www.whyy.org/video throughout the year.
Video segment topics have included culinary arts, choirs, theatrical groups, dance troupes, architecture, and visual arts programs.
The Holy Family segment was produced by Rob Stoller, a local film producer and University faculty member. "
